ARTIST STATEMENT

The textual space of theory is closely analogous to virtual, computerized space. Both operate as mechanisms of representation for immediate, concrete, measurable reality. Although they rely on different systems of encoding, the myth of the cave exemplifies this shared condition. If reality is most often perceived through mediators and representations of the original, then the true experience of the real presents itself as a constant exercise of immediate presence. 

This is likely the natural mechanism through which we filter reality—by framing and isolating it within a constructed space of theories and representations, in other words, a space of words and images. Reconstructing the apARTe exhibition space within a dedicated virtual program and projecting it into the referent space holds the potential to dismantle the illusion of visual representation. Finally, an interactive exercise between the audience, the gallery, and the projection takes place through the partial interruption of the projections by the bodies present in the space.
