This project
investigates the transformation of contemporary political advertising into an algorithmically
optimized visual product, situated at the intersection of artificial
intelligence, the attention economy, and the collective imaginary. Focusing
on materials circulated online in Romania between October 2024 and May 2026,
the research examines political images not only as ideological vehicles, but
also as indicators of a new visual language in which nostalgia,
spirituality, social anxiety, nature, and national identity become reusable
aesthetic resources.
Developed
through art-based research, the project combines archiving,
participatory observation, visual analysis, and installation.
An archive of
images collected from politically personalized social media feeds is
relocated from the digital sphere into the exhibition space, where the feed
becomes object, archive, and installation. Removed from their original
context, these images lose their persuasive function and become available for critical
analysis, while simultaneously documenting the early visual language of AI
image generation.
Beginning in January
2026, two surrogate Facebook profiles were created to observe algorithmic
filter bubbles from within.
Visitors are invited to temporarily inhabit
these identities through interactive installations, positioning
themselves simultaneously as spectators, users, and participants in the
circulation of political imagery.
A central
element of the exhibition is the continuous, real-time 3D printing of
busts generated from images of Călin Georgescu and Cristela Georgescu.
The process functions as a material metaphor for the automated reproduction
of political identity, exposing how public figures are continuously fabricated,
multiplied, and stabilized through algorithmic image circulation.
