ARTIST STATEMENT
The textual space of theory, of any kind, is very similar to the virtual, computerized space. Both operate in the spirit of a mechanism that represents immediate, concrete, measurable reality. Although through different systems of encoding/coding, the myth of the cave can exemplify the phenomenon in question. If, paradoxically, reality is most often perceived through the lens of mediators, representations of the original, the true experience of the real presents itself as a constant exercise of immediate presence.
This is likely the natural mechanism by which we can filter real information—by framing and isolating it within a space we construct, a space of theories and representations, in other words, a space of words and images. Reconstructing the apARTe exhibition space within a dedicated virtual program and projecting it into the referent space holds the potential to dismantle the illusion of visual representation exercises.
Finally, an interactive exercise between the audience, the gallery, and the projection will (inevitably) take place through the partial interruption of the projections by the bodies present in the space.
Bellow you can view the 3D renders that were projected in the gallery. Some of the simulated works were materialised, other remained in the form of digital representation.
